What this tool answers
You need a first-pass plate-caster class before buying. Enter the total loaded weight on four casters in pounds. The calculator names the smallest class - 350, 450, or 700 lb per caster - that clears the per-caster share, or returns NO_MATCH. It is not a structural engineering check.
Why divide by four
Most cart and workbench kits use four casters. Matching total load to published per-caster ratings via an even split is a common shopping screen. Real floors and uneven loads can still overload one wheel - confirm live ratings and keep weight centered.
Class ladder on this site
Classes use published VEVOR US plate-caster ratings checked 2026-09-10: 350 lb (4 in), 450 lb (5 in), and 700 lb (6 in) per caster. Matching rule: smallest class where class.per >= total_lb / 4.
When the answer is NO_MATCH
If the per-caster share exceeds 700 lb, this site returns NO_MATCH. Typical next steps: split the load, redesign with more rated casters, or choose industrial wheels outside this screen.
Brakes and floors
Confirm live ratings. Lock brakes on slopes. Protect soft floors from marks and dents. Do not exceed published capacity.
